A romantic, movement-filled couples session through Pioneer Square, Pike Place Market, and the Waterfront.
There’s something incredibly special about photographing returning clients—getting to witness another chapter of their story unfold is one of the greatest honors of this job. When these two reached out to plan another session, I knew we had to make it feel personal, playful, and distinctly Seattle.
We spent the afternoon wandering through Pioneer Square, Pike Place Market, and the Waterfront, soaking in the charm and texture that makes this city such a perfect backdrop for love stories.
Pioneer Square – Moody, Romantic, and Timeless
We started in Pioneer Square, where the brick facades, iron gates, and historic architecture always bring a cinematic feel. The ivy-covered buildings and warm marquee lights created such a cozy, European-inspired vibe. They held hands beneath the archway at Grand Central Arcade, smiling at each other like no one else was around. That’s the magic of working with returning clients—the comfort is already there. There’s no awkwardness, no stiff poses. Just genuine connection. I love incorporating movement into sessions, and their hand-in-hand walk down the cobblestone streets felt effortless and natural. The textures of the brick paired beautifully with their neutral outfits—classic, relaxed, and perfectly suited to the setting.
A Playful Spin Through the Streets
One of my favorite moments was when they started spinning each other in a quiet alleyway. The light filtered in softly between the buildings, catching her hair mid-motion and highlighting their laughter. Those unplanned moments? That’s where the real magic lives. As a photographer, I always encourage couples to interact rather than pose. Walk, spin, lean in, laugh. The result is images that feel alive—like a memory you can step back into.
Pike Place Market – Iconic Seattle Energy
From the quiet charm of Pioneer Square, we made our way to Pike Place Market. The iconic neon sign glowing above the crowd never fails to set the scene. There’s something so vibrant about that location—the movement of people, the market buzz, the waterfront air. Standing beneath the Public Market Center sign, they held hands with easy smiles, completely grounded in each other despite the lively backdrop. I love contrasting intimate connection with energetic locations—it makes the couple stand out even more. The brick streets, waterfront light, and soft overcast sky gave us that dreamy Pacific Northwest glow Seattle does so well.
The Waterfront – Calm After the Crowd
We wrapped up along the Waterfront, where everything felt open and peaceful. After the buzz of the market, the water always brings a sense of calm. It’s the perfect place to slow down, take a breath, and capture those quiet, close moments.
Why I Love Photographing Returning Clients
Photographing returning clients is like catching up with old friends. I already know how they move together, how they laugh, how they connect. That familiarity allows us to create something deeper each time. Watching their relationship continue to grow—and getting to document it in some of Seattle’s most iconic neighborhoods—is something I’ll never take for granted.
To my sweet couple: thank you for trusting me again. I already can’t wait for the next chapter. 🤍
